This week we’ve talked about how dog trainers are increasingly interested in the science of behavior. The granddaddy of all behavior analysis organizations is ABAI-the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
The Association for Behavior Analysis International® (ABAI) is a nonprofit membership organization with the mission to contribute to the well-being of society by developing, enhancing, and supporting the growth and vitality of the science of behavior analysis through research, education, and practice.
ABAI’s annual conference moves around the country and it is held every year on Memorial Day weekend (the end of May). This year’s conference will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
ABAI has an Applied Animal Behavior area. At this years conference, there will be presentations on:
* operant conditioning in zoos
* training shelter volunteers and shelter staff
* increasing shelter dog adoptability
* assessing behavior in deaf/blind dogs
* programs for graduate study in animal behavior, and
