Say hi to Murphey! Murphey is an ambitious and loving Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who passed his Canine Good Citizen test on August 1, 2010 with CGC evaluator Suzanne Stone on Long Island and went on to pass his Therapy Dog International test the following month. He now visits the local nursing home with his owner, Trista Ortiz.
Murphey has a lot of Cavalier friends and has play dates with them almost every weekend. He loves going in the car and has traveled to Washington, D.C. (where he loved getting his picture taken in front of the White House), Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Cape Cod! Trista says that Murphey, who is a diehard New York Yankees fan, approaches his work in the nursing home much like the Yankee captain Derek Jeter because both get the job done and do the right thing without asking for anything in return.
Thanks to Trista Ortiz for this fun picture! “Like” CGC on Facebook and keep posting photos of your CGC and S.T.A.R. grads. Don’t forget to include the particulars about your dog — name, age, breed, when he/she passed the test and who the CGC/S.T.A.R. Puppy evaluator was, fun facts — and I’ll try to feature your photo in an upcoming post so you can tell the world your puppy is a S.T.A.R. or Canine Good Citizen!
You can also tell everyone your dog passed by downloading our new social media icons and posting them on your website, blog, or social media pages. The icons and instructions on how to download them can be found on the American Kennel Club’s CGC and AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy pages.
In the meantime, keep checking back for tips, tricks, photos, and CGC news!
