Meet the “Stay” Masters of Charlotte

Congratulations to Canine Good Citizen Evaluator Edie Elting and her class of CGC graduates!  Edie’s class passed their CGC test this past May at PetSmart in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The goal for earning CGC for these dog owners was to have a well-mannered dog and to be able to say that theirs was truly a Canine Good Citizen.

Edie says that this group of students handled every challenge she threw at them, even the “stay” while their owners walked away from them.  She said the most fun class they had was when the owners decided to have a competition of whose dog could “stay” the best.  One owner even ran instead of walking away from her dog to prove how well he could stay!

Lets give a shout out to the dogs and owners for a job well done!

I’d love to learn more about your graduating classes!  If you’re a CGC or AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy evaluator or your dog is a CGC/S.T.A.R. grad, “like” CGC on Facebook and post photos of your class.  Don’t forget the particulars about your students — names, ages, breeds, owners’ names, when and where the test took place, and fun stories about your class or interesting challenges your students overcame so everyone can learn from your experiences — and I’ll try to feature your class in a post!

The “stay” seems to be a challenge for many dogs.  Did your dog have trouble mastering “stay”?  How did you help him/her overcome it?  Share with everyone in the comments.
